--teach-me-unix
I installed Gentoo to learn Linux and learned how to copy-paste.
"I switched to Gentoo to really understand how Linux works." A noble goal. The ricer then proceeded, line by line, to copy the entire Handbook into a terminal without reading a single word, and now believes they are a kernel engineer.
What was learned
- How to paste.
- That
genkernel allexists, defeating the entire point. - That asking "how do I learn unix" on a forum gets you flamed, which is, in fairness, the most authentic unix experience available.
"i dont need to read man pages, i'll just keep emerging things until it works"
RTFM was right there. It was always right there.
